Ingredients

  • 200 g Powdered sugar The base for a smooth, sweet icing.
  • 30 ml Milk Add slowly to powdered sugar until desired icing consistency is reached.

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  6. Divide dough in half; add green food coloring to one half and mix until evenly colored.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
  8. Use shamrock or clover-shaped cookie cutters to cut cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  11. Mix powdered sugar with a small amount of milk to create green icing; decorate cookies with icing and sprinkles.
  12. Let icing set before serving.
