Ingredients

  • 1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream divided (¾ cup for base, ¼ cup for web)
  • 1 packet 1 oz taco seasoning
  • 1 can 16 oz refried beans
  • 2 large ripe avocados
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • ¼ cup finely chopped red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 small jalapeño minced (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • cups chunky salsa drained
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced green onions
  • 3 –4 black olives for spider body and legs

Method

  1. Select a shallow round serving dish (9–10 inches).
  2. Mix cream cheese, ¾ cup sour cream, and taco seasoning until smooth. Spread evenly as base.
  3. Spread refried beans over cream cheese layer.
  4. Make guacamole: mash avocados, mix with lime juice, onion, cilantro, jalapeño, salt, and pepper. Spread over beans.
  5. Layer salsa, then shredded cheese.
  6. Pipe sour cream in concentric circles over cheese, drag toothpick from center to edge to form spider web.
  7. Place whole black olive in center for spider body. Slice olives into strips for spider legs.
  8. Garnish edges with lettuce, tomatoes, and green onions. Cover loosely and chill at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a glass pie dish for best presentation. Pipe sour cream thinly for a neat web design. Add toppings just before serving for freshness.
