  • Alternative: ground turkey or plant-based ground “meat”
For the Flavor Foundation:
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free

Method
 

  1. Cook the Rice: Prepare rice using your preferred method (stovetop, rice cooker, or Instant Pot).
  2. Brown the Beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef for 5–7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add Aromatics: Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Season: Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions. Simmer 2–3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Assemble: Divide rice into bowls, top with beef mixture, and finish with sesame seeds, green onions, and optional toppings.

Notes

For a spicy twist, stir in 1–2 teaspoons gochujang (Korean chili paste) with the soy sauce. This recipe is also great for meal prep and can be portioned for 4 days.
