Ingredients

  • 4 slices whole grain or sourdough bread Toast until golden brown for best texture.
  • 1 pound fresh salmon fillet Pat dry thoroughly before seasoning to ensure a good sear.
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon Cook until perfectly crispy, then drain excess fat.
  • 1 cup romaine lettuce or mixed greens Wash and pat dry for a fresh, crisp layer in your sandwich.
  • 1 medium tomato Slice evenly for easy layering and a burst of freshness.
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise Optional, but adds a creamy tang that complements the other flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Use as needed if there isn't enough bacon grease for searing the salmon.
  • 0.5 tsp Salt Season the salmon generously to enhance its flavor.
  • 0.25 tsp pepper Freshly ground pepper provides the best aroma and taste.
  • 2 wedges Lemon Serve on the side for a bright, zesty finish to your sandwich.

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Paper Towels
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife

Method

  1. Pat the salmon fillet dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  3. In the same skillet, use the leftover bacon grease to cook the salmon. Add olive oil to the skillet if necessary. Cook the salmon for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Remove the salmon from the skillet. Toast your slices of bread in the remaining grease until golden brown.
  5. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of toast, if using. Layer the lettuce, tomato slices, cooked bacon, and finally the seared salmon on one slice.
  6. Place the other slice of bread on top. Cut the sandwich in half if desired, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

Feel free to customize your Salmon BLT with your favorite greens, a different type of bread, or even a spicy mayonnaise for an extra kick. Fresh, high-quality ingredients make all the difference!
