Ingredients

  • 1 piece shallow glass baking dish, approx 13" by 8"
  • 160 g blue jello
  • 160 g yellow jello
  • 160 g red jello
  • 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin
  • 1800 ml boiling water
  • 360 ml iced water

Equipment

  • Shallow Glass Baking Dish

Method

  1. Put 1/2 cup of room temp boiled water into the freezer for 10-15 mins or until very chilled.
  2. Prepare boiling water. In large mixing bowl, pour in blue jello powder and add in 1 tbsp of unflavored gelatin and stir to mix.
  3. Pour in two cups of boiling water. Stir until gelatin is dissolved. Pour in chilled water from freezer and stir.
  4. Grease the baking dish with a layer of oil. Pour gelatin into baking dish and use a spoon to skim off all the bubbles.
  5. Put in the fridge and let set for 30-40 mins or until the jello is firm to the touch but still a tiny bit tacky.
  6. Repeat the above steps with the yellow color and last of all, the red color.
  7. When the rainbow jello is completely set, use a sharp knife to loosen the edge around the baking dish.
  8. Then use your fingers to gently pull the jello away from the side. It should be easy to detach.
  9. Cut out desired shapes and then remove one by one from the dish to serving tray. Cover and keep in the fridge until serving.

Notes

Make sure to layer the jello in the correct order: blue, yellow, then red, for the best rainbow effect!
