Ingredients
Method
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
- Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart.
- Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne, salt, and pepper, and stir to bloom spices.
- Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and chicken broth, stirring to combine.
- Add kidney beans and black beans and gently mix.
- Stir in brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce.
- Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in chopped cilantro, adjust seasoning, and serve hot with desired toppings.
Notes
Add beans during the simmer stage to prevent mushiness. Taste and adjust salt mid-simmer, as broth sodium levels vary. For a thicker chili, simmer uncovered longer. Always add sour cream just before serving.
