- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream together sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in dried cranberries and orange zest until evenly distributed.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- For frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar gradually, then mix in vanilla and orange zest.
- Spread frosting evenly over cooled bars. Garnish with chopped cranberries and orange zest if desired.
- Cut into 12 squares and enjoy!
Notes
Use orange zest for authentic flavor. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep bars tender. Cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
