- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour and baking powder; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- Spread half the batter into the prepared pan. Drop spoonfuls of strawberry jelly evenly over the batter.
- Carefully spread the remaining batter over the jelly layer.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
