Ingredients
  

  • 15 ml sesame oil adds a nutty aroma and flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic minced, fresh is preferred
  • 15 g fresh ginger grated
  • 450 g ground chicken main protein source
  • 30 ml soy sauce for umami flavor
  • 30 ml hoisin sauce adds sweetness
  • 15 ml rice vinegar provides acidity
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 75 g carrots julienned, for crunch
  • 25 g green onions chopped, for garnish
  • 1 head butter lettuce or romaine hearts, for cups
  • 15 g toasted sesame seeds optional garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated fresh ginger. Sauté for about 1 minute until aromatic.
  2. Add ground chicken to the skillet and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until no longer pink.
  3. Pour in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and rice vinegar. Add red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Stir in julienned carrots and chopped green onions. Cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. Separate the lettuce leaves for wraps and rinse them gently. Ensure they are intact.
  6. Spoon the chicken mixture into the lettuce leaves and top with sesame seeds and extra green onions. Serve warm.

Notes

These wraps are great for using up leftover vegetables or proteins. You can also serve them with a side of dipping sauce for added flavor.
