Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar for swirl
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon for swirl

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg, milk, vanilla, and oil.
  5. Gradually combine dry and wet mixtures.
  6. Mix ¼ cup sugar with 1½ tsp cinnamon for the swirl.
  7. Pour half the batter into the pan, sprinkle half the swirl mix, repeat, and swirl lightly with a knife.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to rack to cool completely.

Use room-temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing for a tender crumb. Try whole wheat flour or almond milk for healthier variations.
