Ingredients

  • 3 large russet potatoes 8-10 ounces each
  • 1 –2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Butter for serving
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt optional
  • Shredded cheddar cheese optional
  • Fresh chives or green onions optional
  • Bacon bits optional
  • Smoked paprika optional

Method

  1. Scrub the potatoes clean under running water and pat them completely dry.
  2. Prick each potato 6–8 times with a fork if desired.
  3. Rub the potatoes evenly with olive oil.
  4. Sprinkle salt and black pepper over each potato.
  5. Add optional garlic powder or paprika for extra flavor if desired.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  8. Cook for 35–40 minutes, turning halfway through cooking.
  9. Check doneness by inserting a fork into the center of the potatoes.
  10. Cook an additional 5 minutes if needed until tender inside.
  11. Carefully remove the potatoes from the air fryer.
  12. Slice open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add butter and desired toppings before serving.

Notes

For extra crispy skin, make sure the potatoes are fully dry before oiling. Russet potatoes work best because of their high starch content and fluffy texture.
