Method
- Heat olive oil in a large pot and cook sausage with red pepper flakes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté diced onion and minced garlic in remaining fat until softened.
- Add chicken broth, water, and sliced potatoes. Simmer until potatoes are fork-tender.
- Return sausage to the pot and stir in kale. Cook until wilted.
- Reduce heat to low and add heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat gently without boiling and serve warm.
Notes
For an authentic touch, add crispy bacon pieces on top and use freshly cracked black pepper for best flavor.
