Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/2 cup raspberry jam

Method
 

  1. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt.
  3. Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in egg yolk, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Add dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Roll dough into 1-tablespoon balls.
  7. Use a floured pinky finger to press two angled indentations forming a heart.
  8. Chill shaped dough for 30 minutes in the freezer or 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  9. Warm jam slightly and spoon into the heart indentations.
  10. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  11. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Notes

For best results, properly chill the dough to maintain shape, avoid overfilling with jam, and use thick high-quality preserves for clean heart centers.
