Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water 110°F
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins soaked and drained
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter

Method

  1. Combine warm water and sugar, sprinkle yeast on top, and let sit until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Add yeast mixture and softened butter to dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  5. Gently knead in drained raisins.
  6. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
  7. Shape dough into a loaf and place in a greased 9x5-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden and baked through.
  9. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Soaking raisins prevents dryness and ensures even distribution. Allow bread to cool before slicing to avoid a gummy texture.
