Ingredients
  

  • 1 pack 17.3 oz store-bought puff pastry
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Neutral oil for frying
  • 1 cup melted chocolate or jam or sweetened cream cheese

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
  3. Cut the pastry into 12 equal squares.
  4. Add 1–2 tablespoons of filling to the center of each square.
  5. Fold corners inward, sealing tightly.
  6. Roll each piece into a tight cylinder and shape into a U.
  7. Place each shaped pastry into the muffin tin.
  8. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Fry cruffins in batches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  10. Drain on paper towels.
  11. Mix cinnamon and sugar, then coat cruffins while hot.
  12. Serve warm.

Notes

Do not overfill to avoid leaks. Coat in cinnamon sugar while hot so it sticks evenly.
