Ingredients
  

  • 1 head green cabbage chopped
  • 1 lb kielbasa sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil divided
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 3 –5 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 medium carrot shredded (optional)
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cups broth vegetable or chicken
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh dill or parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat 1/2 tbsp olive oil and brown kielbasa 3 minutes per side; remove and set aside.
  2. Add remaining oil, sauté onions 3–4 minutes, then garlic for 30 seconds.
  3. Stir in carrot, tomato paste, and caraway seeds; cook 1 minute.
  4. Add cabbage, salt, pepper, 1 cup broth, and vinegar; toss to combine.
  5. Cover and cook 12–15 minutes, adding broth as needed.
  6. Return kielbasa, cover, and heat 3 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh dill or parsley and serve.

Notes

For extra authenticity, toast the caraway seeds lightly before adding to deepen their aromatic flavor.
