  • 450 g lean ground beef For a rich, savory base to the sloppy joes.
  • 30 g butter Used for sautéing the aromatics to build flavor.
  • 1 item yellow onion diced, adds a sweet and pungent base.
  • 1 item green bell pepper diced, for a touch of freshness and color.
  • 230 g brown mushrooms minced, adds an earthy umami flavor.
  • 30 ml ketchup Provides a sweet and tangy base to the sauce.
  • 240 ml beef broth Adds depth of flavor to the sloppy joe mixture.
  • 225 g provolone cheese chopped or shredded, for that classic Philly cheesesteak melt.
  • 6 item brioche hamburger buns Butter and toast for the perfect serving vessel.

Method
 

  1. Brown the lean ground beef in a hot pan. Once browned, remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, melt butter and sauté diced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms until browned.
  3. Mix beef broth, ketchup, salt, and pepper in a bowl; pour into sautéed veggies and simmer until thickened.
  4. Return the beef to the pan and mix well.
  5. Turn off heat and stir in provolone cheese until melted.
  6. Butter and toast brioche buns separately until golden.
  7. Fill toasted buns with the cheesy beef mixture and serve warm.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese to your liking, or add a touch of Worcestershire sauce for extra depth. For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the vegetables.
