Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter softened, for easy mixing with spices
  • 0.5 tbsp garlic powder adds a savory kick to the butter mixture
  • 0.5 tsp dried parsley for color and a subtle herbaceous note
  • 4 slices bread your favorite sandwich bread, sturdy enough for grilling
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend a classic blend for gooey, melty grilled cheese

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley until well combined.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture on one side of each slice of bread, covering all the way to the edges.
  3. Place two slices butter-side down and add half the cheese on each. Top with the other bread slices, butter-side up.
  4. Heat a skillet over low heat. Cook sandwiches for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  5. Remove from pan, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can lightly butter the non-garlic side of the bread before toasting. Serve with a side of tomato soup for a classic pairing.
