Ingredients

  • 240 ml fruit juice choose your favorite: orange, grape, or cranberry
  • 15 ml lemon juice for a tangy touch
  • 30 g gelatin powder unflavored
  • 200 g granulated sugar plus extra for coating
  • 120 ml water
  • g Cornstarch to prevent sticking

Equipment

  • Small Saucepan
  • Silicone Molds

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the fruit juice, lemon juice, and water.
  2. Warm the mixture over medium heat, but do not allow it to boil, as high heat can affect the gelatin’s setting properties.
  3. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the warm juice mixture.
  4. Whisk continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the liquid is smooth.
  5. Gradually stir in the granulated sugar. Continue heating and stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  7. Pour the mixture into silicone molds for fun shapes or into a lightly greased baking dish.
  8. Allow the gumdrops to set at room temperature for several hours or place them in the refrigerator to speed up the process.
  9. Carefully remove the gumdrops from the molds or cut the set mixture into small cubes.
  10. Roll each gumdrop in granulated sugar for a sweet and sparkly finish.
  11. Place the gumdrops in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh at room temperature for up to two weeks.
