Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 medium onion finely minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms

Method

  1. Mix ground beef with onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder until just combined.
  2. Form into four patties and chill for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear patties 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. Sauté garlic in skillet drippings for 30 seconds, then whisk in flour to make a roux.
  5. Slowly add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce while whisking, bringing to a gentle simmer.
  6. Return patties to skillet and simmer 8–10 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or vegetables.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the meat to keep patties tender. Use 80/20 ground beef for best flavor and moisture.
