Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries hulled
  • 1 –2 tablespoons sugar maple syrup, or agave
  • 3/4 cup milk of choice
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder ceremonial or culinary grade
  • 2 tablespoons hot water not boiling
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Blend strawberries with sweetener until completely smooth to create a purée.
  2. Pour the strawberry purée into the bottom of a tall glass.
  3. Gently add ice cubes over the purée.
  4. Sift matcha powder into a bowl, add hot water, and whisk until smooth and frothy.
  5. Slowly pour milk over the ice to create a separate layer.
  6. Carefully pour the whisked matcha on top.
  7. Stir before drinking and enjoy immediately.

Notes

For best results, use ceremonial-grade matcha and avoid boiling water, which can make matcha bitter. Pour liquids slowly to maintain distinct layers.
