Method
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar for 3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Stir in dry ingredients until just combined; do not overmix.
- Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line baking sheets with parchment.
- Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into shapes.
- Bake for 6–8 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool on baking sheet before decorating.
