Ingredients

  • 6 oz hot freshly brewed black coffee
  • 1 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
  • 2 tsp light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream lightly whipped
  • Pinch of fresh nutmeg optional

Method

  1. Warm a heatproof glass by filling it with hot water for 60–90 seconds, then discard the water.
  2. Brew 6 oz strong hot coffee and keep it at 180–190°F.
  3. Pour coffee into the warmed glass, add brown sugar, and stir until dissolved.
  4. Add Irish whiskey and gently stir once.
  5. Lightly whip heavy cream until thick yet pourable.
  6. Slowly float the cream over the back of a spoon to create a distinct top layer.
  7. Sprinkle nutmeg on top and serve immediately.

Notes

Use freshly brewed strong coffee and cold heavy cream for the signature float. Avoid stirring after adding the cream to keep layers intact.
