Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: everything bagel seasoning sesame seeds, poppy seeds, shredded cheese, or dried herbs

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead 2–3 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
  4. Divide dough into 4 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
  5. Shape each ball into a rope and connect the ends to form bagels, or poke and stretch a center hole.
  6. Place bagels on the prepared baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and add toppings of choice.
  7. Bake for 22–25 minutes or until golden brown. For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes.
  8. Cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving with your favorite spreads.

Notes

If dough feels sticky, add a sprinkle of flour. For gluten-free versions, use a quality gluten-free flour blend and add 1 tbsp extra yogurt. Bagels can be frozen up to 1 month and toasted straight from frozen.
