Ingredients

Main Coffee Base:
  • 480 ml freshly brewed strong coffee or espresso
  • 120 ml whole milk or heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or to taste
Aromatic Spice Blend:
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger optional
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Enhancements:
  • 60 ml Irish cream liqueur or bourbon optional
For Serving:
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Ground cinnamon for garnish
  • Ground nutmeg for garnish
  • Smart Substitutions: Use oat or almond milk for dairy-free versions maple syrup for natural sweetness, or coconut cream for tropical richness.

Method

  1. Brew the Perfect Coffee Base: Prepare a strong brew using your preferred method. Use a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio for a bolder flavor.
  2. Create the Spiced Milk Mixture: In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until steaming. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Whisk until sugar dissolves and spices blend.
  3. Combine Coffee and Spiced Milk: Pour brewed coffee into mugs. Add spiced milk and stir to combine. Enjoy the marbled look before fully mixing.
  4. Add Final Flavor Elements: Stir in vanilla extract and, if desired, Irish cream or bourbon. Adjust sweetness and spice to taste.
  5. Presentation: Top with whipped cream, dust with cinnamon and nutmeg, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Pre-mix the spice blend and store for up to 6 months for quick holiday prep.
  • Use pre-warmed mugs to maintain ideal serving temperature.
  • Leftovers keep in the fridge for 2 days; reheat gently before serving.
