Delicious Strawberry Shortcake Puppy Chow

Ingredients
  

  • 5 cups Vanilla cereal Such as Chex cereal, for a crunchy base.
  • 1/2 cup strawberry cake mix Adds a delightful strawberry flavor and pink hue.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Also known as confectioners' sugar, for coating.
  • 1/2 cup freeze-dried strawberries Finely crushed for intense strawberry flavor and color.
  • 4 oz pink candy melts For the first batch of coating, can be substituted with white chocolate tinted pink.
  • 4 oz red candy melts For the second batch of coating, adds vibrant color.
  • 1/2 cup M&M'S (Strawberry Chocolate) Adds extra strawberry flavor and a fun crunch.

Equipment

  • Large Ziploc bag
  • Microwave
  • Large Bowl

Method
 

  1. In a large Ziploc bag, combine cake mix, powdered sugar, and freeze-dried strawberries, mixing to combine. Set aside.
  2. Microwave 4 ounces of candy melts (red or pink) in 30-second intervals until melted.
  3. Once melted, pour over the first bowl of Chex mix. Mix thoroughly to combine.
  4. Measure out 3/4 cup of dry ingredients and add into the bowl with the chocolate-covered Chex. Mix to combine. Set aside.
  5. Microwave the remaining 4 ounces of candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals until melted.
  6. Pour melted chocolate over the second bowl of Chex. Mix thoroughly to combine.
  7. Add in the remaining dry ingredients and stir to combine.
  8. In a large bowl, combine both bowls of colored Chex Mix and add in M&M'S. Stir to combine and enjoy!

Notes
