- In a large bowl, whisk together plain flour, white sugar, ground black pepper, table salt, and leavening powder until blended nicely.
- Gradually fold in the chopped sweet onions and whole milk into the dry mixture.
- Pour about 2 inches of oil into a heavy-bottomed pan and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- Using a spoon, carefully drop spoonfuls of the fritter batter into the hot oil.
- Allow the fritters to fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown.
- Once fried, use a slotted spoon to carefully transfer the fritters to a plate lined with paper towels.
- Serve the fritters hot, alongside your favorite dipping sauces.
