Ingredients

  • 400 g large apples preferably Honeycrisp or Fuji, for best flavor and texture
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed, to prevent browning of apples
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or melted butter either option works well, choose based on preference
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar optional, adjust to desired sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon adds warm, sweet spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt enhances the overall flavor

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Slice apples into 1/4-inch thick sticks and toss immediately with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Drizzle melted coconut oil or butter over the lemon-coated apples and toss gently to coat.
  5. Add the sugar-cinnamon mixture and toss again until evenly coated.
  6. Arrange apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  7. Air fry for 10 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through at 5 minutes.
  8. Check for doneness; add 2-3 more minutes if needed, watching closely to avoid burning.
  9. Remove and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar and cinnamon to your taste. These apple fries are best served warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel.
