Ingredients
  

  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 30 g sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 120 ml buttermilk
  • 60 g unsalted butter melted
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 15 g ground cinnamon
  • 60 g powdered sugar
  • 30 ml milk for glazing

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Stir in the buttermilk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  5. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon, and sprinkle this over the dough.
  6. Cut the dough into strips and twist them together, placing on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze, then drizzle over the warm twists.

Notes

These twists are best served warm. Feel free to add nuts or raisins for extra flavor!
