Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper
  • 20 frozen store-bought wontons
  • Scallions chopped (for garnish)

Method
 

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add ginger and garlic and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and water and stir to combine.
  4. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, salt, and white pepper.
  5. Bring broth to a gentle boil.
  6. Add frozen wontons one at a time and stir gently.
  7. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook 4–6 minutes until wontons float.
  8. Simmer an additional 1–2 minutes.
  9. Ladle soup into bowls and garnish with scallions.

Notes

Avoid boiling vigorously to keep the broth clear. Cook wontons gently and do not overfill bowls.
