Ingredients

  • 8 oz egg noodles or Asian-style noodles
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 –8 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce optional
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or sesame oil
  • 8 oz sirloin or flank steak cubed
  • 10 –12 large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • Chili flakes or sriracha optional

Method

  1. Cook noodles according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup pasta water, drain, and set aside.
  2. Pat steak dry and season with black pepper. Sear in a hot skillet with oil for 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook shrimp for 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
  4. Lower heat to medium. Melt butter and sauté garlic for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and reserved pasta water. Stir to combine.
  6. Add noodles and toss until evenly coated.
  7. Return steak and shrimp to the pan and toss gently to warm through.
  8. Garnish with green onions, Parmesan, and chili flakes if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Avoid burning the garlic and do not overcook the shrimp. Pasta water is essential for a silky, restaurant-style sauce.
