Method
- Prepare the bread: Toast cubed bread at 350°F for 20 minutes, tossing halfway.
- Cook sausage & veggies: In skillet, cook sausage, onion, and celery in 2 tbsp butter for 10 minutes until browned and softened.
- Combine: Mix sausage mixture with toasted bread cubes.
- Herb butter: Melt remaining butter, sauté garlic with herbs and spices. Drizzle over bread and sausage.
- Add liquid: Whisk eggs with chicken broth. Pour gradually into stuffing until moist but not soggy.
- Bake: Transfer to greased 9×13 dish. Cover with foil, bake 20 min, then uncover and bake 35 more minutes until golden and 165°F internal temperature.
Notes
Make up to 2 days ahead. Add broth gradually to avoid soggy texture. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
