Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice day-old
  • 200 g sliced beef or chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons Japanese BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped scallions
  • 1/2 cup chopped mixed vegetables carrots, peas, bell peppers
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • Toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef or chicken and cook 4–5 minutes until browned; remove and set aside.
  3. Add garlic and mixed vegetables to the skillet and stir-fry 2–3 minutes.
  4. Push veggies to one side and scramble the beaten eggs on the other side.
  5. Add the cooked jasmine rice and mix well.
  6. Return the cooked protein, add Japanese BBQ sauce and soy sauce, and stir to coat evenly.
  7. Season with salt and pepper and cook 2–3 more minutes.
  8. Garnish with scallions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Use day-old rice for the best texture and avoid overcrowding the pan to keep the fried rice crisp.
