Ingredients
Method
- Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth and let sit for 60 seconds.
- Cut cinnamon swirl bread into 1- to 1½-inch cubes.
- Dip bread cubes into custard for 30 seconds per side, then let excess drip off.
- Heat skillet over medium heat and add butter or oil.
- Cook soaked cubes in a single layer for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Work in batches, adding more butter as needed.
- Transfer to a warm plate and drizzle with warmed maple syrup.
- Add desired toppings and serve immediately.
Notes
Use slightly stale bread for best texture. Avoid over-soaking to prevent soggy bites. Keep cooked batches warm in a low oven while finishing the rest.
