Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until smooth with small lumps.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350–375°F.
  5. Transfer batter to a squeeze bottle or piping bag.
  6. Squeeze small swirls or circles into hot oil.
  7. Fry for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust generously with powdered sugar while hot.
  10. Serve immediately.
