Ingredients
  

  • 6 buttery croissants day-old or fresh
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips or chunks
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish

Method
 

  1. Generously butter a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Tear croissants into bite-sized pieces and arrange evenly in the dish.
  3. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the croissants.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants.
  6. Gently press down to help the croissants absorb the custard.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or overnight if desired.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden and set.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use day-old croissants and high-quality chocolate. Avoid overbaking to keep the center creamy.
