Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package premade pie dough
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 16 candy eyes
- Optional substitutions: puff pastry or homemade pie crust, apple or blueberry filling, mini chocolate chips for eyes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut 16 circles from pie dough using a 3-inch cutter. Place 8 on baking sheet.
- Slice remaining 8 circles into ¼-inch strips for mummy bandages.
- Place 1 tsp cherry filling in center of each dough circle.
- Brush edges with beaten egg, then arrange dough strips across filling to resemble mummy wrappings.
- Brush tops with egg wash for golden finish.
- Bake 8–10 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before adding candy eyes.
Notes
Use only 1 tsp filling per pie to avoid leaks. Always cool completely before adding candy eyes to prevent melting. Keep dough chilled for easier handling.
