- 1 pound penne pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook penne pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic until fully cooked.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer the sauce uncovered for 10 minutes.
- Add cooked penne pasta to the sauce and mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- Top evenly with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Cook pasta just until al dente to avoid a mushy texture after baking. Let the bake rest briefly for cleaner servings.
