- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
- 1/2 cup raspberry jam
Instructions
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt.
- Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in egg yolk, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Add dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Roll dough into 1-tablespoon balls.
- Use a floured pinky finger to press two angled indentations forming a heart.
- Chill shaped dough for 30 minutes in the freezer or 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Warm jam slightly and spoon into the heart indentations.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
Notes
For best results, properly chill the dough to maintain shape, avoid overfilling with jam, and use thick high-quality preserves for clean heart centers.
