  • Total Time: 1 hour 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 slices 1x

Description

A festive, moist, and irresistibly flavorful Eggnog Bread that captures the essence of the holidays. Infused with classic spices, rich eggnog, and topped with a sweet glaze, this recipe is perfect for gifting or indulging all season long.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 24 tablespoons eggnog

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan. Lightly flour for easy release.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients with eggnog, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and bake 50–60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Whisk powdered sugar with eggnog to create glaze and drizzle over cooled bread.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for best texture. Substitute coconut sugar or maple syrup for refined sugar reduction, or use plant-based eggnog for a dairy-free version. Store tightly wrapped at room temperature up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
