Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 3/4 cups warm water (about 105°F)
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Fresh rosemary leaves
- Coarse sea salt
Instructions
- Combine warm water and yeast, whisk gently, and rest for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil; stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down dough, then shape and dimple onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Let rise 30 minutes; drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle rosemary and sea salt.
- Bake 25 minutes until golden-brown and crisp at edges. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use quality olive oil and fresh herbs for authentic flavor. Water temperature should be warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast.
