- 1 cup unsalted butter, cubed

- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Heat the Guinness and butter in a saucepan until the butter is fully melted.
- Whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth, then let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
- Gently mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
- Stir in the Guinness chocolate mixture and buttermilk until smooth.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes.
- Cool the cake completely before frosting.
- Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then whip in heavy cream and vanilla.
- Spread frosting over the cooled cake, slice, and serve.

Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting to prevent the cream cheese frosting from melting.
